“And again He said, “To what shall I liken the kingdom of God? It is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal till it was all leavened.””
Luke 13:20-21 NKJV
Ever watch the progression of a newly kneaded piece of dough to a ready to bake loaf? It’s an entire science project. It was the experiment of the day every Saturday in my house. We were privileged to have Grandma Sue’s rolls every Sunday for dinner, and if not much company on Sunday, for Monday’s leftovers. The smell of the rolls baking was maddening; the satisfying chew even more so. Worth every ounce and pound. But the tiny cake of yeast, broken and dunked into a sizable cup of hot water and sugar, following a short bath in the same, with enough time to transform itself and surroundings into a pleasurable smelling potion, turned a bowl of flour and seasonings into a mind blowing, diet destroying yeast roll. So wonderful as to only be enjoyed on the Lord’s day. The kingdom of heaven is like…Be salt. Be light. Be beggars telling other beggars where you found amazing bread. Be all this kingdom dwellers. And be yeasty.
